Attention all young performers!  Your moment to shine has come!  The Discovery Museum is seeking enthusiastic kids ages 5-12 to explore their dramatic side during weekly drama workshops held at the Museum during the upcoming Winter break.  The week-long Discovery Winter Drama Workshops will meet Monday through Friday on the following dates:  December 27th – December 31st, January 3rd – 7th, and January 10th – 14th.  Ages 5 to 7 will meet 9am to 12pm, and ages 8 to 12 will meet 1pm to 4pm.  Each workshop will culminate in a short presentation of an adapted classic fairytale to be performed at the end of each week. Kids are welcome to register for one week or all weeks.

What better way to spend time off from school than making new friends and fostering imagination?  Under the direction of theatre educator Cynthia Martin, and choreographer Jonathan Calderwood, each of these one-week workshops will take the kids through an exciting journey of self discovery through theatre exercises, visual artistry through mask and prop-making, and the development of performance skills by presenting a classic fairytale for an audience. From the lovable Ugly Duckling to the popularRapunzel, a variety of fairy tales will be explored providing a wealth of opportunity for children to be dramatic and imaginative.

To register for these full and enriching workshops, stop by the Discovery Museum or download the registration form on the Museum’s website.  Cost for each one-week workshop is $90.00 for Museum members ($70.00 for additional siblings) and $100.00 for non members ($80.00 for additional siblings).  Fees include all materials and a daily snack.  Space is limited and classes will fill quickly.  The deadline to register for any of the workshops is December 17th, 2010.
