During the month of October the Milt Guggia family sponsored Adopt-a-Dog Month by offering a $20 gift certificate to one of ten local restaurants when a dog was adopted from the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society at 751 Black Road. Twenty seven dogs were adopted during the month of October enabling their new families to have a great meal at AJ Spurs, Anderson’s Pea Soup, The Jetty, Pepper Garcia’s or Shaw’s Famous Steakhouse.

However the extended Guggia family wanted to continue their support of pet adoption from the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society. For the month of November, Dawn and Joe Guggia are donating a $20 gift card, redeemable in December, at Camfeldt’s Flowers toward the purchase of any in-store item or toward local flower deliveries.  “We also challenge other businesses to offer rewards to any person who gives a quality home to a pet adopted from the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society,” said Dawn Guggia. “The local Humane Society volunteers and staff do such great work and we all can help save lives by adopting versus buying new pets.”

Not to be out-done when it comes to supporting shelter animal adoptions, cousin, Terri Ostini Strickland, of the Ostini Family, will offer a $20 meal card redeemable at the Hitching Post in Casmalia for any dog or cat adopted during the month of December from the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society shelter on Black Road.

“All the staff and volunteers here at the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society greatly appreciate the support of the extended Guggia family,“ stated Jill Tucker, Executive Director.  “Please consider adopting a dog or cat from our facility. You’ll expand your family while being rewarded by the love of a furry new member and a special gift from the Guggia family.”

You may view the adoptable animals by visiting the shelter on-line at www.SMVHS.org or call 805 349-3435 for shelter hours and more information. Businesses wishing to participate in supporting adoption should call Jill Tucker at 349-3435 x17.
