The cat population at the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society has spiked once again with many cats and kittens looking for permanent loving homes. What’s more fun than one cat? Two! To encourage more adoptions the humane society is having a Feline Frenzy all through November offering two kittens or cats for one adoption fee or a 30% discount off the adoption fee of a single feline. “All animals come spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, making adoption by far the most affordable means of acquiring a wonderful new pet” explains Jill Tucker, executive director of SMVHS.  “We strongly encourage the public to come and meet our sweet, beautiful cats and kittens waiting for loving homes.”

As a No Kill shelter, the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society relies on an active adoption program to make space for new animals at the facility. There is currently a long list of cats and kittens waiting to be accepted into the adoption program. “This is yet another reason we are really looking forward to completing construction of our new animal care complex. With more physical building space, we’ll be able to house 2 to 3 times the number of cats. We will also be able to double the number of spay/neuter surgeries we can perform in our low cost clinic. The more spays and neuters that happen, the fewer unwanted animals will flood area shelters.”

As the entire Central Coast continues to struggle with a skyrocketing cat population, SMVHS strongly encourages the public to have their cats spayed and neutered. SMVHS offers low cost spay/neuter services in their clinic 5 days per week. To schedule an appointment or inquire about the adoptable animals, please call (805) 349-3435 or visit the facility at 751 Black Road in Santa Maria.
