TechXpress Chief Technology Officer Allen Mapalo was recently honored as one of 40 up-and-coming business leaders under the age of 40 who work in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Mapalo and the other 40 Under 40 award recipients were honored by Pacific Coast Business Times at a reception at the Oxnard Topa Tower Club on October 18, 2010. Mapalo is one of only six honorees from San Luis Obispo County.
The 40 Under 40 honorees were nominated by their business peers and voted upon by the Times’ editorial staff based on three criteria: professional accomplishment, community involvement and outside recognition of these accomplishments. The award recipients were profiled in the September 24th issue of the newspaper. Past distinguished recipients of the award include California Lt. Governor Abel Maldonado.
“I am honored to have received such a prestigious award,” said Mapalo. “It’s especially gratifying to be recognized at this level by peers in our community.”
“I’m very proud of Allen for his professional growth as leader in our company and industry,” noted TechXpress CEO and 40 under 40 alumni Bryan Sarlitt. “I was not at all surprised he won the award given his professional accomplishments. We’re grateful to have Allen as a senior member of our team.”
Allen’s day-to-day CTO duties at TechXpress consist of managing technical staff, overseeing customer service, consulting with clients, designing and engineering large projects, strategic planning, and product R&D.
When he’s not working on new certifications or spending time with his wife and kids, Allen likes to play competitive paintball, pelting his opponents.
