The Santa Maria Valley Historical Society is proud to announce that Daniel E. Krieger, Ph.D. will be the guest speaker for the Society’s 55th Annual Dinner, to be held at the Historic Santa Maria Inn, in Santa Maria, CA on January 30, 2011.
Dr. Krieger is a Professor Emeritus in History at Cal Poly State University; is a noted author and lecturer. Dr. Krieger is recognized worldwide for his studies of ethno history, the Holocaust, and the history of the Central Coast of California. His honors include Rockefeller and NEH Fellowships on state and local history, past President of the San Luis Obispo Historical Society and current President of the California Mission Studies Association. He has written numerous books on local history. His weekly column, Times Past, is published in the San Luis Obispo Tribune newspaper
Since 1955, the Santa Maria Valley Historical Society has collected, preserved and presented the history of the peoples of the Santa Maria Valley. The society offers a museum displaying their collections at 616 S. Broadway, in Santa Maria. The museum is open to the public; free of charge, Tuesday through Saturday, 12 Noon until 5:00 pm.
The dinner will offer a choice of Top Sirloin, Chicken a l’a Inn, or Grilled fillet of Salmon. The cost is $30 per plate and the public is invited to attend. Deadline for reservations is Tuesday, January 25th.
