Tickets for the event are $9 per meal which includes a half chicken, salad, beans and bread. Vegetarian meals are available as well. Tickets are available in advance from SMVHS or can be purchased at the event. All proceeds go to help SMVHS and the animals they serve.

The Santa Maria Valley Humane Society was founded in 1981 as a privately funded 501 c3 entity. It has been in operation at its current location on Black Road in Santa Maria since 1990, and in that time it has served the community by accepting and adopting out thousands of dogs and cats. In 1998, the Society built and opened a clinic facility in order to offer affordable spay and neutering services performed by local veterinarians. The Humane Society is a “no kill” animal facility and is committed to helping the community find safe, loving homes for unwanted pets and to reducing the population of unwanted animals through its spay and neuter education program. A large volunteer team works in conjunction with paid staff to care for the animals, educate the community, and raise funding and awareness for this important community service.
