Beginning on March 4, the Chamber will be accepting applications for strawberry queen contestants. Girls ages 5-18 are eligible to participate in the contest on a first-come, first-served basis. To win the contest, the girls must sell as many prize drawing tickets as possible – a minimum of 100 to be eligible – through April 15.  The tickets will be sold for $1.00 each and there will be prizes of $500, $300, $200 and $100.  Proceeds will go toward scholarship funds.

The top honor of 2011 Strawberry Queen will be awarded to the girl who sells the most tickets. In addition to receiving the coveted crown & sash, the Queen will win a cash prize and make appearances throughout the year at community events. Two runners up will be crowned 1st and 2nd Princesses. Other honors will be given for the contestants who are deemed Most Photogenic and Best Personality.

The Strawberry Queen Contest Coronation Pageant will take place on Friday, April 29th at 7:00 PM at the Santa Maria Fairpark as part of the Santa Maria Valley Strawberry Festival. The event is generously sponsored by Driscoll’s
