Calling all divas and calling all future stars!  The Discovery Museum and the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department are seeking enthusiastic kids ages 6 – 12 to join this Summer’s Discovery Drama Camp and be part of a production of the wildly popular and delightful musical Seussical, Jr. Under the direction and artistic vision of local theater talent and educator, Natalia Berryman, children who participate in this 4-week long camp will come away with wonderful experiences, new skills, and the thrill of being part of one of the most fun and colorful productions around.  “I’m delighted to be working on the Discovery Drama Camp,” shares Ms. Berryman.  She continues, “Santa Maria has been in need of more theatrical opportunities for its children.  It’s terrific that the Discovery Museum and the City have teamed up to provide a great experience for them.”

The Discovery Drama Camp begins Tuesday, July 5 and is held daily from 12:30- 5 pm through July 29th.  It will be a dynamic 4 week camp including over 100 hours of instruction, bustling with singing, dancing, games and imagination.  A professional creative staff has been assembled who will keep the kids busy, active,

focused on their art, and having lots of fun.  There will be three performances of Seussical, Jr., Friday, July 29th at 7 pm and Saturday, July 30 with both a matinee performance at 2 pm and an evening performance at 7pm.  Performances will be held at the Abel Maldonado Youth Center in Santa Maria and a portion of each ticket sold will benefit the programs and services provided by P.L.A.Y. Every child who registers for the camp will have a part in the production of Seussical, Jr.
