HANCOCK OFFERS COLUMBIAN-STYLE SALSA DANCE CLASS

Spice up your fitness routine by enrolling in a new Columbian-style salsa class being offered through Allan Hancock College’s Community Education department.  Students learn basic salsa steps and technique, stylizing, exciting salsa line dance combinations and couple dance combinations.

There are two date options from which to choose: March 22 – April 12 or April 26 – May 17.  The class fee is $45 for four class meetings.  Classes meet on Tuesdays from 7 to 7:55 p.m. on the Santa Maria campus, room N-15.  Beginning and intermediate students are welcome.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY CLASSES OFFERED THROUGH COMMUNITY EDUCATION

Allan Hancock College Community Education is offering two new photography classes beginning this month.  These classes are not listed in the spring 2011 Spectrum printed class schedule, however; they can be accessed online at www.hancockcollege.edu; click the Class Search link under Spring 2011 and then search for Community Education classes OLDR 7300B and OLDR 7301B.

A free Digital Photography-Level 1 class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 22 – May 19, from 9:30 to 11:25 a.m. at the AHC Solvang Center, room 1.  This class will help students become proficient with digital cameras and learn what to look for when purchasing one.  Students learn appropriate photographic techniques such as using a flash, shooting in low light and capturing sports, portrait and landscape images.  Students also learn to manipulate images when printing, emailing, archiving, and using them on the Web.  Instructor is Theresa Barns.  The class CRN is 42634.
A Digital Photography-Level 2 will meet on Wednesdays, March 23 – May 18, from 6 to 9:55 p.m. in room S-103 on the Santa Maria campus.  This class is for students who have mastered the basics of digital photography.  It explores advanced digital camera skills, digital editing and image manipulation.  Instructor is Jeremy Teitelbaum.  There is a $5 materials fee.  The class CRN is 42680.
