What? Provide much needed back-to-school clothing for local economically-disadvantaged children. The children participating in the shopping spree will choose new school clothes of their choice, resulting from the partnership between United Way, Kohl’s, KSBY, Good Samaritan Shelter, volunteers and local businesses.
Why? One of United Way’s key areas of focus is on Education – Helping Children Prepare for Kindergarten, and Graduate High School on time reading at grade level. Many low-income families are struggling more than ever before. Currently, those seeking assistance are the working poor, finding it ever more difficult to provide their children with proper school clothing which can hinder both attendance and successful learning.
