The Santa Maria Women’s Network

30th year celebration & Scholarship recipient results

The Anniversary luncheon and early evening reception held at the Historic Santa Maria Inn on June 1, 2011 was a great success.

There were many members and guests that filled the tables at the afternoon Luncheon.   The Guest Speakers were enjoyed by all which included, Judi Martindale, first President along with Lynn Melville, Nancy Jo Ward and Bonnie Royster.  Very passionate speakers with stories that all related to how women in business began and what they were up against many years ago.

SMWN Scholarships were awarded to two local High School Students who were present and very happy to receive them.  Tamara Mau, Pioneer Valley High School and Amanda Faries, Righetti High School, both received their $500 scholarship checks .

The early Evening Reception was an opportunity for those that were unable to attend the Luncheon to enjoy and interact with fellow members, guests & speakers.   Christine Gerber was presented an SNWN award from Alex Tacket,  from California State Assembly District member Katcho Achadjian, Thirty-Third District office, for recognition “In celebration of 30 years of Professional and Personal Development for local women and men from business and private sectors of the community”.

Additional:  This year we were again proud to support a deserving woman in transition with a $600 scholarship to further her education at Allan Hancock College. Recipient Zhanna Staley was presented her SMWN scholarship at the school’s annual awards ceremony in late May.
