It’s a Beautiful day at The Santa Maria County Club, and the members would like to share just how beautiful it is. On September 25th, 2011 the club will host an Open House Celebration to honor its 90th anniversary.   The club would like to extend an invitation to the public to join its members in celebration and to showcase what the facility has to offer.

The Open House Celebration is scheduled to take place from 3pm to 6pm on Sunday September 25th.  Whether you are already familiar with the country club or not, please join in the celebration and take advantage of an opportunity to explore the facility and its wonderful amenities.   Food, music and prizes will be available.  In addition, tours will be offered for those guests interested in a more in-depth look of the facility.  Santa Maria Country Club is nestled in a quaint corner adjacent to Waller Park with complete facilities which include golf, tennis, swimming and dining.

The club was incorporated in 1921. Originally, one hundred and sixty one (161) acres of undeveloped land were acquired 3 miles south of the city of Santa Maria.  A 9-hole golf course was built on eighty (80) of those acres.  The remaining unused acreage was later sold to the county of Santa Barbara and currently comprises Waller Park. After World War II, the club once again acquired land, this time from the airport commission, with the stipulation that the land be used for recreational purposes.    In approximately 1949, the Santa Maria Country Club added an additional 9 holes, finally completing the 18 holes envisioned in its design in 1921.

Today, the Santa Maria Country Club offers full facilities including a well-manicured 18 hole golf course, 6 fully lighted tennis courts, a 6 lane heated swimming pool used for both lap swim and recreation. Additionally, the beautiful dining and banquet facility invites simple dining as well as provides an ideal setting for weddings, banquets and parties of all sizes.

Please take advantage of this rare event being offered to friends, neighbors and members of the community and join us on Sunday September 25th from 3 to 6pm.  After all, “It’s a beautiful day at the Santa Maria Country Club”, and we wouldn’t want you to miss it.
