MASTER THE BASICS, THEN MOVE ON

Do you need to improve upon some basic skills before pressing ahead with your college plans?

Allan Hancock College Community Education offers free Reading, Writing and Math classes where students can improve upon basic skills in math, reading and writing.  Material is presented through individual, small group, computer-assisted instruction, and tutoring with one-on-one assistance.  Accessible software programs include Rosetta Stone, Aztec and PLATO.

Classes meet in the Community Education (bldg. S) in room S-101 computer lab on the Santa Maria campus.  Classes are now in session, but students can still register for these sessions:

CAN’T DEAL WITH ALL THE STRESS?  FREE CLASS OFFERS COPING SKILLS

If your stress level has reached capacity, or even if you find yourself struggling with stress, you can learn how to better manage it in a free Stress Management class offered through Allan Hancock College Community Education.  The class meets on four Monday evenings, Oct. 10-31, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in bldg. S, room S-112 on the Santa Maria campus.

Stress is not bad for you, according to instructor John Hupp, but your reaction to it is.  This course teaches you to be less susceptible to the negative physical and emotional reactions to life’s stresses.  Discover how to use stress to your advantage.  Learn effective coping and communication skills, as well as relaxation exercises.

The Course Record Number (CRN) for the Stress Management class is 22406.  Register online 24/7 at www.hancockcollege.edu or in the classroom.  Students may also register in person at Community Education (bldg. S) on the Santa Maria campus between the hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
