Join the Clark Center in welcoming the world’s premiere Western recording and touring band – Riders In The Sky on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 7pm.
With over 30 years and over 5,500 performances under their collective cowboy belt, Riders In The Sky’s fun-filled performances continue to enchant audiences of all ages. This multi Grammy Award winning Western group plays music that is firmly grounded in the rich American music traditions of legendary cowboy singers such as Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, and the Sons of the Pioneers. And while remaining true to the integrity of Western music, they have themselves become modern-day icons by branding the genre with their own legendary wacky humor and way-out Western wit, and all along encouraging buckaroos and buckarettes to live life “The Cowboy Way!”
Starring “Governor of the Great State of Rhythm” Ranger Doug on guitar and vocals, Too Slim on upright bass, “King of the Cowboy Fiddlers” Woody Paul on fiddle and vocals, and Joey “The Cowpolka King” on accordion, Riders In The Sky have toured over 3,000,000 miles and made 300 television appearances, proving themselves time and time again to be the singin’est, funniest, Grammy winnin’est cowboys from Arroyo Grande to the Rio Grande.
Without a doubt, the Riders have single-handedly revived and revitalized an entire music genre since forming in 1977. It comes as no surprise that Billboard magazine’s Jim Bessman counts them as one of “the most historically significant acts in the history of American music.”
