The Clark Center for the Performing Arts presents the legendary musician and founding member of the trio Peter, Paul & Mary – Peter Yarrow in Concert on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 8pm.

Legendary musician, songwriter and activist Peter Yarrow weaves a narrative of his life in music and politics, punctuating the major events with renditions of the iconic songs we all know and love. Yarrow creates community within his audiences through his reflections in both words and music including his hits “Blowin In the Wind,” “Puff the Magic Dragon” and “Leaving on a Jet Plane.”

From his life in Greenwich village in the 1960’s, his connections to Bob Dylan & Pete Seeger and his career as a founding member of the trio Peter, Paul & Mary, Yarrow shares a part of American history influenced heavily by music. As a member of Peter, Paul & Mary, he earned many gold and platinum albums, was awarded numerous Grammys, and was nominated for several more. More important to Peter, however, is the acknowledgment of the central role that he and his partners have played in bringing the folk renaissance of the 1960s to the hearts and homes of the American public.

Throughout his career, Yarrow has not only been an innovator by founding various musical organizations such as the Newport Folk Festival and the New Folks Competition but he also has been heavily involved in social and political activism throughout the decades. Over the years, many issues have moved Peter to commit his time and talent: equal rights (including marching with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the Civil Rights movement), peace, the environment, gender equality, homelessness, hospice care and education. Peter is also PBS’s biggest personality fund raiser and devotes much of his time to raising money for a variety of organizations.

Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to share the life and music of this iconic artist on February 10.
