The Santa Maria branch of American Association University Women (AAUW) is presenting it’s annual Authors’ Forum on Saturday, March 3, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Santa Maria Inn,  801 S. Broadway, in Santa Maria.

Following lunch,  four local authors  will  preview their latest works. Lompoc resident Jill Schaefer has written a lighthearted account of her adventures as a young English woman in the U.S. in the 1950’s.  In contrast, author Mohammad G. Mohabbat  chronicles his harrowing escape to the U.S. from Afghanistan and tells how his life was turned upside down with the fall of the twin towers on September 11.  John W. Strobel III is a retired journalist, producer, and teacher who has written five novels including one based on his grandfather’s experience as a seaman shanghaied to serve aboard a Chinese merchant ship.  The final author, C.J. Silas, is a sports announcer and the public address voice for  the Cal Poly men’s baseball team. C.J. writes about the inequities that still exist between boys’ and girls’ sports programs in the schools.
