This is a friendly competition between businesses, schools, and civic groups, and anyone wishing to help the Foodbank serve our community by ending hunger. To participate, please go to http://www.foodbanksbc.org/springfooddrive.html, and a Spring Food Drive Task Force Member will provide further details on how to proceed.
The demand for food assistance in Santa Barbara County has increased steadily throughout the Foodbank’s 30 year history. Over those 30 years, the County Foodbank has distributed over 120 million pounds of food for people in need. Still today, and partly due to the tough economic climate over the last few years, approximately 120,000 county residents cannot afford food and turn to a variety of food assistance programs. The Foodbank distributes to over 290 programs/organizations in the County and the need has grown so much that today’s food pantry can’t keep up with the demand.
If you wish to donate independently, please deliver to the Foodbank or mail a monetary donation to The Foodbank, 490 W. Foster Road, Santa Maria, CA 93455, Attn: Spring Food Drive (or for credit card use, please call 937-3422×104). For every $1 donated, the Foodbank is able to purchase $17 worth of food. Your generosity will help stock local pantry shelves, and every donation will make a real difference for those in need.
Thank you for your assistance in our efforts to end hunger in Santa Barbara County.
