100 percent of all proceeds generated from entry fees will go to worthy causes

When Heritage Oaks Bank established the Family Fun Day and Fun Run 14 years ago, the bank envisioned an event that would gather together community members of all ages in shared fun, while raising critically needed funds for local non-profit organizations. The bank has more than reached its objectives, rallying the community and donating more than $350,000 over the years. The 14th Annual Fun Run and Family Fun Day will take place Sunday, September 30, and has earmarked three local organizations to share all race entry fees.

“The Fun Run is a great illustration of the way Heritage Oaks Bank connects with our community,” said Simone Lagomarsino, chief executive officer of Heritage Oaks Bank. “We produce a fun event that has become a wildly popular local tradition, and it enables us to donate funds to key nonprofit organizations. That’s a winning combination all around,” she concluded.

This year’s Fun Run non-profit recipients include:

Achievement House / NCI Affiliates

“Achievement House / NCI Affiliates is pleased to be one of the three non-profit organizations benefiting from this year’s Fun Run,” says Mike Metcalf, public relationship and business services coordinator of Achievement House / NCI Affiliates. “Like Heritage Oaks Bank, Achievement House is deeply rooted in the community, providing developmentally disabled adults with a wide range of vocational and community living services since 1957. Achievement House and NCI Affiliates would like to take this opportunity to thank Heritage Oaks Bank, the City of Paso Robles, Zurn Wilkins, the REC Foundation and those participating in the Fun Run for their support,” concludes Metcalf.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County

“For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life,” says Anna Boyd-Bucy, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters. “Most children they serve are in single-parent and low-income families or households where a parent is incarcerated.  As a part of the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, the organization supports the development of meaningful, monitored friendships between adult volunteers and children. Funding provides for a system of ongoing evaluation and support that is proven by independent studies to help families by improving the odds that participating children will perform better in school, avoid violence and illegal activities, and have stronger relationships with their parents and others”, Boyd-Bucy concludes.

Paso Robles Library Foundation

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude at the enduring generosity of Heritage Oaks Bank,” says Julie Dahlen, director of Library and Recreation Services. “Donations of Fun Run proceeds to the Library Foundation over the years have enabled Library staff to purchase hundreds of books and other materials which have been enjoyed over and over again by readers of all ages,” concludes Dahlen.
