Sixteen Santa Maria Swim Club (SMSC) athletes attended the Western Zone Swimming Championships recently. The Western Zone Swimming Championships represents all states west of the

Rockies, including Colorado, Nevada, California, Washington and Oregon. SMSC finished 4th in the Combined competition with the Women’s team finishing 3rd and the Men’s team finishing 10th.

Josh Prenot (age 19), coming off his recent successes at Olympic Trials broke 2 Meet Records and won the 200 Individual Medley, 100 Breaststroke and 100 Butterfly.

The SMSC Women’s 800 Free Relay of Casey Kennemann (16), Michaela Paige (17), Paola Hernandez (16) and Elizabeth Pulido (15) won the event by over 5 seconds.
