A first-ever event comes to Santa Maria this Sunday!

From 10am-12pm this Sunday, September 30, local celebrities with little or no artistic talent will gather at Rosalind Pearlman Park (Main & Broadway) to create one-of-a-kind works of art.

Coached by local artist, Beverley Johnson, the following community leaders and personalities will be there to participate:

Kirk Spry, CEO, VTC Enterprises

Jay Turner, Weekday Morning DJ, Sunny Country

Nikki Kozak, Weekday Morning DJ, Sunny Country

Alex Posada, Director, Santa Maria Recreation & Parks

Bob Hatch, President/CEO Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce

Dave Cross, Director, Santa Maria Economic Development Commission

Shelly Cone, Santa Maria Sun

Rob Buchanan, Hub International

These works of art will be displayed at the Salute to the Arts event to follow on Wednesday, October 10 at the Abel Maldonado Community Event Center. They will be up for silent auction at the event with proceeds going to the Santa Maria Arts Council for Scholarship Programs.

This is slated to be a first annual event with a new selection of celebrity artists in following years. The event is designed to raise funds for scholarships and increase attendance for “Salute to the Arts,” highlighting the significance of arts to our economy & community.

The events are a collaboration of the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce, City of Santa Maria Recreation & Parks Department and the Santa Maria Arts Council.
