Best known as part of Johnny Carson’s beloved “Tonight Show” family, legendary band leader DOC SEVERINSEN is enjoying a new chapter of his musical journey.
On Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Performing Art Center’s Cohan Center, Doc Severinsen leads the Latin-music charge in an evening with the swingin’ San Miguel Five and special guest vocalist and Central Coast favorite, Inga Swearingen.
Audiences can look forward to a program that offers classical Spanish music with a distinctive jazz flair. The vivacious Severinsen is joined by Gil Gutierrez (guitar), Charlie Bisharat (violin), Jimmy Branly (percussion) and Kevin Thomas on bass in an evening filled with gorgeous ballads – both Latino and American – plus some great movie music and the popular gypsy jazz, a la Django Reinhardt.
“Severinsen and his new colleagues make a marvelous quintet.” (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)
