The Santa Maria Branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women) is pleased to announce that Beth Wonson, of the Central Coast Literacy Council, will share the positive impacts that occur in people’s lives, when local businesses invite Literacy Council tutors into the workplace.  The program, entitled “Learning English at Work,” will be held on November 17th, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 at Merrill Gardens-Wellness Center Room, 1220 Suey Road, Santa Maria.  The Central Coast Literacy Council partnered with Driscoll’s Strawberries, C&D Zodiac, and Hardy Diagnostics to teach the reading and writing of English in the workplace.   These progressive employers not only opened their doors to Literacy Council tutors, the business provided new opportunities for their employees.   All current AAUW members, guests and interested parties are invited to attend the luncheon, to listen to Beth’s interesting program, and to learn about the Central Coast Literacy Council programs.  Reservations will be accepted until November 12th.  To make a reservation, please send an $18 check payable to AAUW, 1663 Chadwell Drive, Santa Maria, CA  93454.  For further information call, 925-5426 or 928-2881
