Dignity Health Hospice’s annual holiday community remembrance celebration serves as an event for friends and family to honor the lives of loved ones who are no longer with us

The holiday season can be an extremely difficult time for those grieving the loss of a loved one. Dignity Health Hospice invites members of the Santa Maria, Lompoc and surrounding Central Coast communities to join in its annual Light Up a Life celebrations where members of the public honor and remember the lives of family members and loved ones who are no longer with us.

The Dignity Health Hospice Light Up a Life ceremony taking place in Santa Maria will occur on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church located at 311 South Broadway. The Light Up a Life ceremony taking place in Lompoc will occur on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at La Purisima Catholic Church located at 213 West Olive Avenue.

The community remembrance ceremonies will feature music, poems, the reading of the names of those being remembered this year and a photomontage. During the reading of the names, candles will be lit, symbolizing the memory of loved ones being remembered.

To memorialize a loved one and to have their name read aloud during the ceremony, community members can purchase a light on the Dignity Health Hospice Memorial Tree for $20. All event donations received help support Dignity Health Hospice programs and services. In addition, all attendees will receive a seeded star as a special gift to plant in remembrance of their loved one.

Memorial lights will be available for purchase through the Marian Regional Medical Center Foundation until Friday, November 23. To participate in Dignity Health Hospice’s Annual Santa Maria and Lompoc Light Up a Life ceremonies, community members can call the Marian Regional Medical Center Foundation at (805) 739-3595.
