The Santa Maria-Bonita School District thanks the businesses, local organizations and people throughout the community that support students and schools in many ways during the year.

The district sends a huge thank you to the Santa Maria Eagles Aerie #1745 for once again sponsoring the amazing Operation Santa Clause program for 70 SMBSD students in need. The Eagles provided $100 gift cards to each of the students which allowed them to select clothing, toys and another items from WalMart prior to Christmas. The Eagles raise money throughout the year to fund this special community event. This is the 7th year that the Eagles have sponsored Operation Santa Clause. In addition to paying for the shopping trip, the Eagles members volunteer to shop with the students to help them stay on time and on budget. The schools select the students that participate based on need. The district appreciates the continued efforts of the Santa Maria Eagles to support children at the holidays and all year long.

Fifth grade students from Robert Bruce School say “Bravo!” to the GenSpan Foundation for sponsoring their field trip to see The Wizard of Oz at PCPA Theaterfest and also to have lunch at Hometown Buffet. GenSpan paid for the outing as well as provided volunteers to make sure the students had a fun, safe afternoon. Many of the students had never before attended a professional theater performance. Eating lunch at Hometown Buffet gave the students an opportunity to display their best manners. GenSpan provides academic volunteers to SMBSD schools on a regular basis and funds community activities to give students a variety of experiences. Thank you, GenSpan Foundation, for making children a priority.

The SMBSD Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Program would like to thank the supporters and volunteers who made the 6th annual GATE Winter Enrichment Workshop for students a success. The event organizers especially thank CKD Academy of Martial Arts presenters Heather Christensen and Travis Christensen. The brother and sister team have taught martial arts to students for several years at the enrichment event. The GATE department also thanks Bakery Central Market for donating pastries to the program for the past four years at a discounted price. The GATE staff also appreciates FoodsCo, which donated snacks for the Winter Enrichment Program.
