Leadership Santa Maria Valley
Developing Community Leaders
Are you looking for a way to get more involved in the community? Do you want to expand your circle of influence within the Santa Maria Valley? Would you like to be able to network/connect with the decision makers and key leaders in our area? Then consider Leadership Santa Maria Valley! THE program that can do that and more.
Over the last few years I have had several people encourage me to get involved with LSMV. I must admit that I didn’t think this class would have much to offer since I have lived and worked in Santa Maria for over 30 years. I must now say that I have learned more in the last six months about Santa Maria and how it ticks then I have in the last 10 years! .” Steve Scott- President, R.W. Scott Construction Co.
LSMV is a leadership program designed to foster and create future community leaders and trustees. Founded in 1995 on the premise that citizens with an in-depth knowledge of their community will become better leaders with better ideas and will make better decisions. LSMV has over 280 graduates serving in a variety of leadership roles in the government, service and business sectors today. Its objectives are simple. We want to identify and develop emerging and potential leaders from various geographic, social, ethnic, occupational and economic segments of the community; develop potential in and encourage acceptance of civic responsibility by emerging leaders; broaden the volunteer leadership base of the community, and to encourage personal growth and development.
“I have gained so much, including confidence, knowledge (which is power) and friendships that will hopefully last throughout my lifetime. I feel empowered to be my best! ” Billie Jo Cravello – Cravello Insurance
This prestigious leadership development program expands the community’s civic leadership, through an eleven-month long seminar/interactive curriculum. The class year starts in August with an orientation and welcome reception followed by a retreat that introduces class members to each other and the general principles of leadership. The next ten months involve exciting and informative monthly daylong seminars where participants explore the various aspects of the Santa Maria Valley Community. Participants engage in face-to-face discussions with experts and key decision makers in vital areas of concern within the Santa Maria Valley. Participants will have unprecedented opportunities to become aware of current social, cultural, and economic issues, change and their impact on the Santa Maria Valley. Students engage and interact with community leaders and the “movers and shakers” in the areas of Military/Aerospace, Cultural Arts and Diversity , Public Safety, Youth and Education, Health and Human Services, Business and Economic Development, Government, Media and Technology, Agriculture, and Leadership .
