Verdin CAREs Program allows employees to allocate work hours to causes
Verdin, a Central Coast marketing firm, has launched a new program that allows employees to dedicate paid work hours to causes near and dear to their hearts.
The new Verdin Community Advocacy by Responsive Employees Program (Verdin CAREs) was launched this year to give employees the opportunity to donate the marketing firm’s services to a cause or community program of their choice.
“Our employees enthusiastically volunteer for local nonprofit organizations and causes that they’re passionate about; now they can volunteer our services, too,” said Verdin President and CEO Mary Verdin. “This just seemed like a logical step that is in line with our core values.”
Each Verdin employee can now officially designate 12 paid hours annually to local nonprofit organizations. This time can be used for the employee to attend board or committee meetings, as well as for other Verdin employees’ time for research, strategic planning, creative development, and public relations or social media assistance.
The only requirement is that the organization the employee is helping must be a 501(c)3 or 501(c)6, not-for-profit entity and that their mission or activities are not in direct conflict with any client or the Verdin’s core values of commitment, innovation, loyalty, enthusiasm, strategy, and integrity.
“We want to encourage our employees to remain an integral part of the community and to volunteer their time without worrying about whether they are on or off the clock,” Mary Verdin said.
In 2012, the marketing agency donated 275 hours of marketing services to local nonprofit organizations. The company even provided more than 3,700 hours of discounted marketing services in 2012 to local nonprofit organizations in order to better serves the community.
