On Saturday and Sunday, September 28-29, 2013 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., the streets of Old Town Orcutt on South Broadway at Pinal Street will be filled with beautiful color and live performing art as the Orcutt Children’s Art Foundation holds its Second Annual Old Orcutt Street Painting Festival. In the spirit of 16th century Italian street painting, children, adults and professional artists will be turning South Broadway Road into beautiful chalked squares of art.

Proceeds from the festival benefit The Orcutt Children’s Arts Foundation which was created in 2002 to support the visual and performing arts in the

Orcutt Union School District. The foundation, recognizing the importance of the arts in the development of every child, supports and maintains the arts in the Orcutt schools.

The Old Orcutt Street Painting Festival will open at 11 am for the public. There will be live music and other performing arts, food and drink, arts and crafts vendors and much more. PasspARTS for children can be purchased for $10 which include a place to chalk, a box of chalk and access to the children arts section where they can create various art masterpieces in scheduled blocks throughout the day. People or businesses can sponsor a street painting square or to celebrate a person or interest or to advertise a business. Squares range from 6’x6’ ($150) to 10’x 10’ ($250). Sponsors can provide their own painter of any age or experience level for art of their choosing or OCAF can provide an artist who will have free reign to create their own masterpiece. Chalk is included in sponsorship. Sponsors will be recognized with an inscription in your square.

As Pablo Picasso once said, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”  Come and wash off the dust of daily life off your soul and attend this festival. Do it for the kids!

This year’s event sponsors include Déjà Vu Antique Mall, Core Wine, Trattoria Uliveto, ERG, Freeport-McMoran Oil & Gas, Waste Management and Dr. Ruth’s Vet2Pet.
