Wondering how to give back this holiday season? CALM, a non-profit whose mission is to assess, treat and prevent child abuse in Santa Barbara County, is sponsoring its 4th annual holiday gift-giving program! Each year, CALM organizes a holiday gift-giving program. Many of the families CALM serves are unable to provide holiday gifts for their children due to severe economic hardship. With the help of the community, in 2012 CALM provided 174 families with gifts, food, and decorations. Caring donors gave toys, books and clothing, and for those who gave monetary donations, CALM was also able to provide essentials like diapers, blankets, and coats. For many of CALM’s families, the simple fact that there was a present to open was the most important gift of all.
With the holidays just around the corner, CALM is asking the Santa Maria community to consider adopting a family in 2013. These families have sought help from CALM in the and are currently receiving counseling services in north county. CALM will match you with a family and provide you with a detailed wish list. With your help, the children and families CALM serves will feel a sense of belonging and appreciate the care of our unique community. You can buy presents for your assigned family or leave the shopping to CALM. Any contribution is warmly welcomed. To adopt a family or to learn more, contact CALM’s North County Development Associate Sandra Fuhring at firstname.lastname@example.org or 805-266-0052.
This is a wonderful way to involve your family, school, classroom, office, or club in the spirit of giving!
