Marian Regional Medical Center, a Dignity Health member, which also includes Central Coast hospitals Arroyo Grande Community Hospital and French Hospital Medical Center, is pleased to announce that Marian Cancer Care and the Mission Hope Cancer Center are the recipients of a $90,000 donation from the CoastHills Community Foundation.  The funding will provide crucial support for those undergoing cancer treatments.

The Mission Hope Cancer Center, located on the Marian Regional Medical Center campus, is the region’s only advanced comprehensive cancer care center.  Highly specialized physicians, oncology nurses and therapists provide integrated oncology care to the Central Coast.  Mission Hope features the most advanced technology and provides the entire spectrum of cancer care and a multitude of support services and therapies.  The Mission Hope Cancer Center is affiliated with the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and provides advanced opportunies for patients to participate in clinical trials.  It is accredited as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Center by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer and received seven commendations.  Mission Hope is a recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award, which is the highest designation awarded to community cancer centers and Marian is one of only three designated programs between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

For the third consecutive year, the CoastHills Community Foundation has donated proceeds from their annual event, Rancho Vino, to the Mission Hope Cancer Center. This year’s donation of $90,000 is the largest gift CoastHills has ever awarded, with a total donation of $207,000 over the past three years presented to the Mission Hope Cancer Center.

“The support we have provided to Mission Hope over the last three years speaks right to our vision, which is ‘making difference in our neighbors’ lives,” said Jeff York, President and CEO of CoastHills Federal Credit Union.   “The fact that our donations fund a program dedicated completely to supporting patients and their families is a perfect match…add to that that the  Rancho Vino event is one of our favorite events all year, and it is just a great partnership.”

“The Coast Hills Community Foundation is committed to serving our community, and for the last 3 years those of us that are involved with caring for patients at Mission Hope Cancer Center have seen that commitment first hand, said Dr. Robert Dichmann, Medical Oncologist and Medical Director for the Mission Hope Cancer Center. The foundation has put an incredible amount of time and effort to put on wonderful events that are enjoyed by all those that attend. But more importantly the passion they have for the cause has been so noticeable that we see an out pouring of generosity from the community, resulting in money for the center far beyond what we could hope for. At Mission Hope we are making sure that we return  the favor by making sure that every cent of that money is used directly to support those in our community that are dealing with difficult times in their battle with cancer. We cannot thank everyone at CoastHills enough for their efforts and desire to care for others.”

“Marian is so very grateful for partnership of the CoastHills team. Our mission is based upon providing excellent, compassionate care to all.  The generosity of our good friends at CoastHills furthers the healing, compassionate care that makes a significant difference for cancer patients and families,” states Stephanie Grogan, Vice President of Philanthropy at Marian Regional Medical Center.
