Cachuma Lake Bald Eagle Cruises 2013

Already this year, bald eagle sightings have been frequent. The regal resident pair is seen soaring from towering heights and perched in favorite oak trees, at times paired together, other times seeking solitude. Each encounter is an authentic experience of its own. During the fall season, witness the marvelous migration of waterfowl from as far north as Alaska, as they make their way down the Pacific Flyway and find sanctuary here – including mallards, herons and grebes, as well as osprey, green-winged teals and ‘cackling goose’.   Lake Cruises are offered Friday through Sunday morning 10am-12pm and Friday and Saturday afternoon 2pm-4pm, November through February. Nov. 7-Dec. 22     PCPA Theaterfest Presents… Mary Poppins!
The practically perfect nanny helps us learn to take our medicine with a spoonful of sugar, find the silver lining in every situation, and realize that sometimes we should just use the winds of change to go fly a kite! Our Holiday show is a very special family tradition, designed to bring a year’s worth of smiles to you and your loved ones! Nov. 24 – Dec. 7    The Festival of Trees
Once again Altrusa of the Central Coast will hold their Annual Festival of Trees Fundraiser. It will begin on Sunday Nov. 24-Dec. 7. Raffle is Dec. 8. Dec. 3, 2013    Bingo at the Elks Lodge

Dec. 6-7, 2013    AHC Holiday Pottery Sale
The annual Allan Hancock College Holiday Pottery Sale takes place Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7 from 9am-5pm, at the Santa Maria campus Student Center. The sale features hundreds of pieces of ceramic art, including cooking and serving ware, planters, jewelry, sculpture, and other one-of-a-kind pieces crafted by art faculty and advanced art students. Dec. 6, 2013     A Christmas Open House at Lucas & Lewellen
Stop in at the Lucas & Lewellen Tasting Room in Solvang on Friday, Dec. 6 from 5-8pm for the annual Open House. Santa Barbara’s Chocolate Maya will share samples of her exquisite chocolates while visitors sip her hot cocoa. Look for special event pricing on Christmas wines.  The party is always complimentary to Wine Club Members (two admissions per Wine Club account), but this year we’re welcoming our loyal locals at no charge as well. Celebrate the Holiday season and support a great cause! Showcasing five beautifully decorated homes that will inspire you, from 10 am-3pm. These are private homes, please no children under 12. Net proceeds will benefit Royal Family KIDS, an all volunteer organization, which allows foster children in the local community to attend the Royal Family KIDS summer camp and be involved in the Royal Family KIDS Club/Mentoring program. Dec. 7, 2013     Santa Maria Parade of Lights

Dec. 9, 2013     Freedom Monument Veterans Memorial Ceremony
The entire community is invited to attend this Special Event honoring those who gave their lives in defense of our country, and all Veterans who have served, from 10am to 11am.  Special Dedication for U.S. Army Spc. Kenneth Alvarez who gave the Last Full Measure of Devotion on August 23, 2013 in Afghanistan in the service of his country. His name will be added to the Freedom Monument Veterans Memorial and will always be remembered by the people of the Santa Maria Valley. The monument is located at the Abel Maldonado Youth Center, 600 S. McClelland Street, Santa Maria. Note: In case of inclement weather, the event will be held inside the Abel Maldonado Youth Center. Dec. 20, 2013      Christmas the Cowboy Way
Enjoy Christmas the Cowboy Way with America’s favorite cowboys – Riders In The Sky, from 7pm to 9pm! This wacky foursome spruced up the bunkhouse, donned their sequined yuletide outfits and created a holiday musical fantasy for Saddle Pals of all ages. Christmas The Cowboy Way features their unique brand of cowboy humor sprinkled with a dash of holiday spice.
