Marian Regional Medical Center Announces the Acquisition of the State-of-the-Art Specimen Radiograph System
Marian Regional Medical Center (MRMC), a Dignity Health member hospital, which also includes Arroyo Grande Community Hospital and French Hospital Medical Center, announces the acquisition of the Faxitron PathVision system. Generous contributions from the community have funded the purchase of this imaging technology used to more precisely determine the spread of tumor in breast cancer resection specimens. This system allows immediate access to high-resolution images that precisely actuate the location and extent of disease.
The addition of this advancement aligns MRMC technological capabilities with the top cancer centers in the nation. The Faxitron system is the only one of its kind on the Central Coast and is the industry’s latest, most advanced specimen radiograph system.
“The recent acquisition of the Faxitron technology is an example of how Marian’s diagnostic services are continuing to grow and expand,” says Kevin Ferguson, M.D., Medical Director of Pathology and President of Medical Staff at Marian. “This technological investment, and advanced technologies to come, will allow Marian to continue recruiting subspecialists, offer more services and provide a level of care equal to major academic medical institutions.”
The Faxitron system was made possible by the MRMC Foundation; the Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Marian that exists to support the highest levels of care, the latest technologies and the most innovative treatments for the Santa Maria Valley and surrounding communities.
“The acquisition of this important technology made possible by a generous community enhances the accuracy and precision of the staging process for breast tumors to a level that is consistent with the best medical centers in the country,” states Stephanie Grogan, Vice President of Philanthropy for Marian. “The outpouring of community support for Marian Cancer Care at Mission Hope has been overwhelming. It is that generous spirit that makes these advances possible.”
