The founders, Dr. Mark Pomerantz and Dr. Thomas Caruso first met at Sierra Vista Hospital where they were ER doctors. In 1983 they partnered to open Central Coast Emergicare with a small staff at their current location on Betteravia Road.
30 years later Central Coast UrgentCare, along with Central Coast IndustrialCare and their Physical Therapy facility have grown to a combined staff of 34, including Rosie Garcia, who’s run the front desk since shortly after they first opened.
Their latest expansion was moving into a new, improved facility for Physical Therapy, in the Mission Creek Plaza, at 2880 Santa Maria Way, Suite C2. There will be a Santa Maria Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting there at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 26th, which will be catered by VTC (Vocational Training Center of Santa Maria).
The UrgentCare department specializes in non life-threatening urgent and routine medical needs, and women’s and family healthcare. They accept all major insurances and are providers for Covered California, California’s insurance exchange.
The Central Coast IndustrialCare department has extended hours to treat workers compensation injuries and also provides a full range of occupational medicine services including employment physicals, drug, alcohol, and TB screening, and respirator fit testing to name just a few. Susan Berban, Client Services Representative, is available at 614-9000, ext. 24 for employer questions.
The physical therapy facility is managed by their Physical Therapist, Ed Donahue. In addition, Ed also does complimentary onsite ergonomic analysis for area employers.
Central Coast UrgentCare and Central Coast IndustrialCare are located at
340 East Betteravia Road, in the Ross Center.
The new Physical Therapy facility is in the Mission Creek Plaza, across from K-Mart at 2880 Santa Maria Way, Suite C2.
