Testing: It’s come a long way… but you won’t have to!

Certification and licensure tests available in San Luis Obispo

Russ Levanway, CEO, Tektegrity

In the past, receiving a certification or license often meant waiting until the next testing period opened, driving to the nearest testing center (often several hours away), and taking a written test in a roomful of people.

Even as computerized testing has become the norm, many individuals and businesses have found it difficult to locate a convenient testing center. Thankfully, as technology progresses, that challenge is dissipating.

At TekTegrity’s headquarters in San Luis Obispo, a trained member of our management team can now proctor various certification testing using equipment and test procedures provided by the Pearson VUE Test Center network. Available IT certifications range from A (Adobe) to Z (Zend Technologies), with CompTIA certification as one of the more popular testing programs.  This service is available to anyone wishing to use it, with registration available through the Pearson VUE website at www.pearsonvue.com .

Community members in other fields are also benefitting from TekTegrity’s testing services.  As part of the Pearson VUE Test Center network, a number of tests for other industries are available in San Luis Obispo. In addition to IT testing, categories include construction, employment and management, government, insurance, legal services, and more.

Examples of available testing include programs for the California Water Environment Association, the National Home Inspectors Exam, the American Board for Certification in Homeland Security, and the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals.

If you or your company have certification and licensure requirements, you can see what testing is available in San Luis Obispo by visiting the test locator at  http://pearsonvue.com/vtclocator/ . Once a test is located, creation of an online account will allow registration and provide further information.

As an Information Technology (IT) service provider, TekTegrity counts on a strong team of trained technicians to design and manage networks and perform repairs and maintenance for our clients.

Like many industries, we confirm the strengths and skills of our employees using testing and certification systems. In fact, if you visit our website and check out the profiles of our employees, you’ll see some of the certifications they hold, often represented by abbreviations of organizations and strings of letters. You may not know what it all means, but we guarantee our techs and consultants worked hard for every one of those designations!

Obviously, the IT field isn’t the only one full of talented people with industry-specific certifications. Many private and municipal organizations have certification and licensure procedures that require testing as the final step of verifying achievement.

Becoming a test center has been a great advantage to TekTegrity for our own certification needs, and we’re happy our clients and other community members can benefit from this time-saving and resource-saving opportunity as well. (You can even use some of the time you save to review those fond memories of past anxiety-ridden test-taking road trips and the smell of #2 pencils!)
