On Friday, May 2nd, MIYB Spaces celebrated its Grand Opening with a day-long celebration. As the Central Coast’s newest coworking space, staff and members of Spaces were excited to show off to the community – and to explain the concept behind coworking. MIYB Spaces provides members access to: (1)  a professional workspace, in the form of open access desks, dedicated desks, or private offices; (2) high quality WiFi, state-of-the-art color copier, use of commercial grade postage meter, and other business resources; (3) professional business mailing address (including mail box) and personal lockers; (4) private meeting rooms and conference rooms; and (5) seminars, workshops, and networking activities.  Additionally, members and the public have access to resources provided by Women’s Economic Ventures and SPOKES for Non-Profits: both non-profit organizations are housed within MIYB Spaces and are provided greater services to the region as a result.

In honor of our Grand Opening – the day-long celebration started off at 7am when Mega 97.1 held their Friday Java Jam at MIYB Spaces. From 7am to 10am, Mega staff and MIYB staff greeted community members, shared coffee and goodies, and took pictures in the big magenta chair!  Dick Dixon lit up the BBQ around 9am and had great Santa Maria Style BBQ sandwiches ready to serve from 11:30 to 1:00 (approximately 100 guests were treated to lunch). About 50 people participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony at noon which was followed by an afternoon of blues and Americana musical entertainment provided by Dos Cliffnotes.

Over the course of the day, about 200 people toured the MIYB Spaces facilities, had their pictures taken in the “Whacky Photo Booth”, chatted with current members, and got information about how MIYB Spaces might be of use to them. This day of fun-filled activity was capped off with a late afternoon networking session that included appetizers (provided by 365 Catering), assorted beverages and great conversation.  All in all – it could not have been a more perfect Grand Opening Celebration – and on behalf of her family, staff, and the early adopter members at MIYB Spaces, Anne Cremarosa (Founder) would like to thank everyone who came out to celebrate… because a party without guests is just no fun!  And, according to all the pictures she has seen so far, a lot of people – had a lot of fun!!!
