CAL POLY ARTS announces its exciting new 2014-15 season, presenting more than 40 diverse programs at the Performing Arts Center: from returning audience favorites like the BLUE MAN GROUP, the WHOSE LIVE ANYWAY gang, PAUL TAYLOR DANCE and recent record-breaking Tony Award-winning songstress AUDRA McDONALD, to the Central Coast premieres of Broadway’s MAMMA MIA!, MEMPHIS, AN IRISH CHRISTMAS and the Natalie MacMaster/Donnell Leahy fiddling showcase, VISIONS OF CAPE BRETON & BEYOND.
Jazz greats RAMSEY LEWIS and JOHN PIZZARELLI pay tribute to Nat King Cole and saxophone superstar BRANFORD MARSALIS goes classical. England’s prestigious Globe Theatre brings us KING LEAR and Chicago’s comedy center sends us THE SECOND CITY. Cal Poly Arts has dozens more performances, spanning world culture (Celtic, Cuban, Croatian and more!), classical music (chamber orchestras and organ recitals), comedy stand-up and speakers, contemporary dance and drag-ballet divas, plus family-friendly shows like the popular SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE!
“I’m absolutely thrilled with our 2014-15 season,” declared Cal Poly Arts Director Steve Lerian. “I’m particularly excited about introducing new artists and companies like Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Shakepeare’s Globe Theatre, and 2Cellos to our Central Coast audience. And the quality and depth of our Broadway shows, including Mamma Mia!, Chicago, Memphis, Nice Work If You Can Get It, and the Rain Beatles tribute, is the best we’ve offered in years. Take a look at the 43 events we have coming up – I’m betting we’ve made choosing your subscription shows very easy!”
