If you are interested in becoming a U.S. citizen and want to learn more about the requirements for taking the citizenship test, enroll now in free Preparation for Citizenship classes offered through Allan Hancock College Community Education. Classes begin August 18 and meet on Mondays and Wednesdays through December 3.
Students learn about the Constitution, government, history, and geography of the United States in preparation for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) required oral interview and exam. Students also become familiar with requirements and exclusions for citizenship.
In Santa Maria, classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 – 11:55 a.m. at the UDW Homecare Providers Union classroom, 402 S. Miller, or from 6 – 8:55 p.m. at Ontiveros School, Room D-18, 930 W. Rancho Verde.
In Lompoc, classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 – 9:25 p.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church Fellowship Room, 1000 W. Ocean Ave.
Register in the classroom. Students may also receive pre-registration assistance in person at Community Education (bldg.S) on the Santa Maria campus, Monday – Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
