Business/Education Partnerships to be Celebrated on October 8

The Santa Maria Valley Industry Education Council and the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors and Convention Bureau are proud to sponsor this year’s Business Appreciation luncheon.  The event will be held on Wednesday, October 8 at the Elks Lodge from noon to 1:30 p.m.   It is a celebration of our community’s strong commitment to public education, and an opportunity to relish the amazing opportunities that our strong business/education partnerships provide.

This year’s theme, Partnerships Are Sweet! recognizes the many companies, nonprofit agencies, and individuals who support our schools.  Business and community leaders want all students to experience the sweet smell of success on their educational journeys.  By providing field trips, surplus resources, awards and incentives, they encourage students to do their best.  Business partners also invest time by participating in careers days to share information, and to meet one on one with administrators during the Principal For a Day program.  All these donations help educators create a dynamic learning experience for students throughout the Santa Maria Valley.

The Partnerships Are Sweet! luncheon will include the distribution of eight computers through the Computer Connections program, a joint venture between the Industry Education Council and the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce.  Major sponsors for this distribution include Santa Maria Energy, the Wells Fargo Bank Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce.  Since the program began in 2002, more than 200 families have received computer packages through the program for under-served children.

Please join us to recognize the many dedicated community partners for their continued support of business/education partnerships in the Santa Maria Valley.
