What girl wouldn’t want to be Queen for a Day? How about for a year?! It can happen by entering the 2015 Strawberry Queen Contest put on by the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitor & Convention Bureau.
The contest allows local girls the opportunity to vie for the crown while earning scholarship money, and support their community at the same time.
To participate, each girl must sell as many prize drawing tickets as possible through April 17.
Proceeds go toward prizes and other student scholarship programs awarded by the Chamber of Commerce and the California Strawberry Commission.
The top honor of 2015 Strawberry Queen will be awarded to the girl who sells the most tickets. In addition to receiving the coveted crown & sash, the Queen will win a cash prize and make appearances throughout the year at community events including the Strawberry Festival that follows.
Two runners up will be crowned 1st and 2nd Princesses. Other honors will be given for the contestants who are deemed Most Photogenic, Best Personality and Best Dressed.
Registration closes Friday, March 27th! Participation is open to any interested girl ages 5-18. To register, just visit the Chamber office at 614 S. Broadway any day before Friday, March 27th, provide some basic information & submit a photo.
Winners will be announced at the 2015 Strawberry Queen Pageant to be held on Friday, April 24th, 7:00 p.m. at the Santa Maria Fairpark Park Plaza.
Winners of the cash drawing will also be awarded at this event.
