Marian Regional Medical Center (MRMC), which along with Arroyo Grande Community Hospital (AGCH) and French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) are Dignity Health’s Central Coast hospitals, is pleased to announce the completion of phase one of its Marian Heart Center expansion project with its new interventional cardiac catheterization hybrid suite.
Marian Heart Center’s new catheterization lab will be able to accommodate both interventional treatments and surgeries, which are referred to as “hybrid” procedures. The new technology within the catheterization lab provides greater image quality and clarity, allowing physicians to find and treat the problem with greater precision. This hybrid suite also provides improved patient safety with much lower radiation dosages. In addition to the technology, the suite includes a multi-media room for staff and physician education, and a consultation room for physicians and family members to discuss the case while viewing the images taken shortly beforehand.
Following the completion of the cardiac interventional hybrid suite, the existing Marian Heart Center’s catheterization laboratory will not only be modernized but will be dedicated to electrophysiology and cardiac rhythm management capabilities. This new electrophysiological and cardiac rhythm lab will allow patients to receive care locally for disorders such as atrial fibrillation, ceasing the need to travel outside of the area for treatment.
These enhancements are a part of the ongoing effort Marian Regional Medical Center is taking which has helped the hospital rank among the top 10% nationally for all cardiac care measures of quality.
“The Marian Heart Center’s growth is another example of how Marian is fulfilling its promise to our community by enhancing the quality health care services we providing with the latest technology used by medical professionals from the best training facilities in the nation,” states Chuck Cova, Marian Regional Medical Center’s President & CEO. Cova adds, “Marian has pledged to add clinical services and programs, previously only provided at major university medical centers so that our community does not have to leave the area seeking specialty and subspecialty services.”
