This year marks a significant milestone for CASA of Santa Barbara County– our 20th anniversary. Over the past 20 years, we have taken strides toward positioning CASA of Santa Barbara County as a leader for child advocacy, and so much of our success is thanks to you – the local CASA staff, board members, volunteers, donors, and community supporters.
Community has always been central to our organization. Over the course of our history, we have strengthened longtime partnerships and cultivated new relationships. Together, we have harnessed the power of community to improve outcomes for children in the foster care system, who in an impossible situation through no fault of their own, but due to issues of abuse or neglect in their families.
Starting from a humble beginning of a staff of one working with 13 volunteers, we have grown into a team of 12 dedicated staff supporting 274 volunteers. So far this fiscal year, which ends June 30, the CASA team has lead the way to serving 420 children with 274 volunteers – that’s roughly 80% of the children in the child welfare system in Santa Barbara County!
Throughout the year, we will celebrate our past while continuing to look to the future. We imagine a future where every child has the safe and loving home they deserve. We hope you will be a part of this future and join us as we continue to move forward with a unified goal, which is to serve every child in need by 2018.
We are proud of the impact we have collectively made in our first 20 years. Imagine what we can do over the next 20!
