The Los Padres Artist Guild 12th Annual Studio and Garden Tour & Sale will take place on Saturday, June20th  from 10 AM to 5 PM.  55 local artists will display and sell their work in 9 working art studios and manicured gardens in Santa Maria and Orcutt. Tour books, costing $10, contain maps and descriptions of each location and artist, and serve as passports for two people for the day.

“It is really a great art adventure.” explains Michael Corob, guild program director.” Each of the gardens and studios has its unique charm, and the creations that the artists share are as varied as the plants in the gardens.”  New artists on the tour work in many styles and mediums. Syd McCutcheon paints colorful acrylic mixed and fiber arts. Frances-Jane Longley makes egg shell artistry, and  Mary Barrette creates porcelain dolls and recycled artwork

“For some visitors, the tour is an entertaining scavenger hunt for unique things to see”, explains Michael,”. Others see it as an opportunity to meet the artists natural settings, and a third group are serious art buyers, who study the map carefully, look up information about the artists, and come prepared to purchase art.. At many locations, the hosts offer refreshments,”  Michael continues, “and at all locations, the artists offer smiles.”

Tour books are available for purchase for $10 at Company’s Coming, 1100 East Clark Ave in Orcutt, Woody’s Butcher Block, 700 E. Main St. Ste. 104 in Santa Maria,  or and at Ron’s Nursery, 850 West Grand Avenue in Grover Beach. A portion of the proceeds from the book sales supports art student scholarships. This year the Los Padres Artist Guild awarded $1000 in student scholarships.  For more information visit www.lospadresartistguild.com or call Jean at 934-3433.
