The annual banquet will be held at 7 p.m. on Aug. 12th at the Elks Lodge. Your meal selection of rib eye, chicken or vegetarian is due by Aug. 5th. The cost is $45/ single or $80/couple.
As has been the custom for decades the Chamber will present three special community awards during the event. This year’s award recipients are as follows:
Robert P. Hatch Citizen of the Year Award
- Dr. Jim Peterson (Chiropractic Wellness Group)
Robert F. Grogan Award for Public Service
- Rick Sweet (City of Santa Maria)
Business of the Year
- Halsell Builders
In addition to these awards, the Chamber will also honor its Ambassador of the Year, formally install Eddie Murray (The Murray Group – Morgan Stanley) at as its new Chairman of the Board, recognize outgoing board members and celebrate the organization’s success in the past year.
“Part of the role of the Chamber is to highlight excellence and that which makes Santa Maria the community we all want to live and work in,” said Glenn Morris, president and CEO of the Chamber. “The individuals and business who will be recognized this year are clear examples of these values and add to a legacy of past award recipients. We are excited to share this evening with our honorees and members.”
Board members who will be recognized for their service include Debi Testa (Testa Catering) and Peggy Greer (Santa Barbara County Education Office). Both of these ladies have completed three terms on the Chamber board and provided important leadership for Chamber programs during that time.
The Chamber will welcome three new members to its board, including Era Polly (Era Polly Real Estate), Chris Slaughter (Discovery Museum), and Janet Silveria (Community Bank of Santa Maria).
