Marketing expert and Mega 97.1 general manager Ed Carcarey urged business professionals Tuesday morning to spend their time at the upcoming 2015 Business Expo Sept. 10 making personal connections with fellow merchants and community members, rather than selling products and services.
“I just want to connect with every single person; I don’t want to sell at the trade show,” he said. “I think it’s better to build a relationship with them. Add value to them. How uncomfortable is it to go to the booth and get pitched?”
The two-session, free marketing seminar at the Fairpark Fountain Pavilion offered promotional insights to businesses planning on exhibiting at the Sept. 10 Expo. Booth space is still available for the Expo. DOWNLOAD the rate sheet and sign up HERE.
Some of the many topics Carcarey covered were:
- – how to bring energy to your booth and command attention
- – body language and non-verbal signals
- – how to bring foot traffic to your booth
- – how to make your visitors feel special
- – how to manage crowds
He finished his presentation by explaining the best practices for following up with visitors and contacts to your booth, including email, personal letters or telephone calls. With each he emphasized adding value to the consumer and letting sales flow naturally from the relationship.
Attendees of the marketing seminar were entered into a door-prize raffle that included a free booth space for the Expo, a $500 gas card, a Target gift card, a Visa gift card, free Mega 97.1 advertising or a meal at Cugini’s Pizzeria & Trattoria.
