The deadline is fast approaching for grant applications by local non-profit organizations for funds available from the Altrusa International Foundation Santa Maria, Inc.


Fall funds are now available to non-profit agencies in the Santa Maria area. Applications are available at Children’s Resource & Referral Services, 705 East Main Street, Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum, 705 S. McClelland Street, or contact Diane @

All applications must be postmarked by Thursday, 1 October 2015.  Applicants are requested to submit an original and seven copies in order to be considered for grant funding.  No late applications will be considered.

Altrusa International was founded in Nashville, Tennessee in 1917, originally as Altrusa Institute. During that time, a record number of women were going to work during World War I, and there was a need for women’s civic organizations. The  the Principles of Altrusa define the organization as “a builder of women” and an organization based on merit and accomplishment. There are chapters around the world.

The grant program is aimed at assisting non-profits. In the past, literacy, child care, programs for people with disabilities and other causes have benefited from the Altrusa International Foundation Santa Maria.
