Autumn is the best time of year to plant perennial plants, especially native and drought tolerant plants. The cooler months and, hopefully, rain of winter will help plants get established in your garden. By planting drought tolerants you can enjoy year round beauty with minimal maintenance and expense.

If you are thinking about replacing that thirsty lawn stop by Growing Grounds Farm on Saturday, October 24 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. or Sunday, October 25 from Noon-3 p.m. for the Grow Native: Drought Tolerant Plant Sale.

The farm will have a wide variety of California natives that are drought tolerant and will provide years of sustainable beauty. Also avaialble will be many other hard to find drought tolerant Mediterranean and Australian plants and fun and unique succulents.  Come by and let the staff help you decide on the best plant for your garden.

Growing Grounds is located at 820 West Foster Road in Santa Maria.

All proceeds will support Growing Grounds Farm and the people who depend on it for employment and horticultural therapy. Growing Grounds Farm is a program of Transitions-Mental Health Association.
