5th District Supervisor Steve Lavagnino speaks at the Santa Maria Care Day event.

On May 11 the Central Coast Collaboration on Homelessness (C3H) hosted a ‘Care Day’ for all the individuals and agencies in Santa Maria who offer care and services to families and individuals experiencing homelessness.

60 people enjoyed breakfast together, shared thanks for one another, and received self care training from the Department of Behavioral Wellness.

“These service providers help with housing, shelter and treatment for some of our most vulnerable men, women, and families experiencing homelessness in Santa Maria,” said Jeff Shaffer, Director of Regional Coordination for C3H. “These providers usually work long hours to help them out of homelessness and ultimately reduce impacts on the city as well. They spend so much time focusing on the care for others, they often take no time for themselves. This day was a way to give back and recognize their efforts in our community.”

Thank you to the local business partners who provided free raffle items for the day, including Hotel Santa Barbara, Klondike Pizza, Olive Garden, Pacific Conservatory Theater and Rejuvenate Spa and Tan.
