SOLVANG/LOMPOC/SANTA MARIA/VAFB — The rumble of patriotism will roll through Solvang, Vandenberg Air Force Base, and Santa Maria Friday, July 29 as 75 motorcycle riders from 5 motorcycles groups across California join local Santa Maria Harley Owners Group (H.O.G) Chapter #1403 escort a single American Flag to the installation.

The collaboration is part of the cross-country Nation of Patriot’s campaign called the 2016 Patriot Tour. Since 2009, their mission has been to escort one American Flag across 48 states for 100 days to pay tribute to all members and families of America’s armed forces—the past, the present, and the fallen. Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) chapters from throughout the country helped the Nation of Patriots organize the flag relay to make the journey possible.

The flag began its travel May 28 from Harley Davidson of Madison, Wisconsin. The flag is handed off from motorcycle group to motorcycle group as it makes a full circle back to Wisconsin over Labor Day weekend.

Riders from other multiple chapters will be meeting at the Veterans Memorial Building in Solvang at 11:00 AM, and then touring the Space Complex 10 at VAFB, and ending their part leg of the tour at Santa Maria Harley Davidson where they will initiate the formal Change of Command ceremony at approx. 3:30 PM. On Saturday, July 30, we will escort the flag will be escorted to Monterey where it will continue its journey.

Santa Maria H.O.G Director, Wes Sullins is proud to participate in 2nd Patriot Tour. “I’m a Disabled Air Force Combat Veteran and approx. half of the members in our chapter are Veterans. This is a chance for us to raise awareness and a cause we feel very passionate about. 100 percent of donations collected are given to Nation of Patriots and will help support wounded veterans and their families,” Funds raised can help support local veterans in need.” says Sullins.

This is the fifth year Santa Maria Harley Owners Group (H.O.G) Chapter #1403 has participated in the tour, but this year the number of riders participating has doubled.
