Thanks to funding from the Friends of the Los Alamos Library, the operating hours at the Los Alamos Branch Library will increase beginning Tuesday, August 9th. The Library will increase its weekly hours of operation from 16 to 23.

The new hours will include opening one hour earlier on Tuesdays through Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. instead of 3:00 p.m., and the library for the first time will be open on Fridays, with those hours from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The library is located at 405 Helena Street in Los Alamos. Its phone is 344-1025.

The Los Alamos Library opened in September 2015 after extensive renovation of the building thanks to funding from the Friends of the Los Alamos Library.  Over the last year, business has been steadily increasing as the local community continues to discover the many offerings of the Library. The County contracts with the City of Santa Maria to provide library service in Los Alamos.

The Los Alamos Branch has an average of 16 visitors each day open and circulates an average of 516 items monthly.  In addition to checking out materials, visitors use the library computers and databases, use the onsite WiFi, fax and copier machines, and read a wide variety of magazines and newspapers.

Current Los Alamos Branch Library hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Commencing August 8th, hours will be Tuesday through Thursday from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., Fridays from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
