The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department is pleased to be hosting the Traveling Lantern Theatre Company presenting ‘Vladimir Goes for Gold!”

Get into the Olympic spirit and come to learn about the first Olympic Games this summer. Bring the entire family to see this traveling production and meet award-winning athlete, Vladimir Cashewninski, as he prepares for the Olympic Games. The show is a humorous spoof about a fictitious athlete and features a historical look back at the first Olympic Games. The theatre company, which is based in Oregon, had to change the date of the show in Santa Maria due to some travel and scheduling conflicts. Originally advertised for July 22nd, the show has been moved to July 25th to accommodate the traveling actors.

The theatrical performance is free to the public and will take place on Monday, July 25th at 1:30 p.m. at Grogan Park, located at 1155 West Rancho Verde. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or throw blankets on which to sit during the one-hour performance.

Children in attendance may receive a free lunch as part of the Summer Food Program offered at 11 local parks. A list of the food program parks is available on the city’s website: .
