The Foresight Institute is a leading think tank focused on promotion the beneficial applications of transformative future technologies.

A thought leader on powerful, coming technologies, Christine Peterson, co-founder and past president of The Foresight Institute, writes, lectures, organizes conferences and briefs the media on nanotech,artificial intelligence, biotechnology and other technologies. An Advisory Board member of the Machine Intelligence Research Institute, California’s Blue Ribbon Task Force on Nanotechnology, Peterson also serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of NASA’s Nanotech Briefs. She co-authored, among other things, Unbounding The Future: The Nanotechnology Revolution, and her interest/work in new varieties of intellectual property has led to her being credited with creating the term “open source software”.

Opticos Design Inc. is a nationally-recognized architecture and planning firm known for its leading edge Form-Based Coding practices and for promoting “Missing Middle Housing” urban solutions.

Daniel Parolek is a nationally recognized thought leader in architecture, design and urban planning. His experience ranges from unique residential (Michael Eisner, Jon Bon Jovi) to a baseball stadium (Anaheim) to design of an entertainment complex (Tokyo Disney). His touchstones are good design, great places, and diverse building types that bridge architecture and urban planning. Interest in creating buildings and neighborhoods that can inspire and guide others led Parolek to launch Opticos Design, Inc. in the year 2000. A national award winner and frequent conference speaker, Parolek “wrote the handbook” on Form-Based Coding and is a leading practitioner. He also speaks nationally and passionately about the design and urban planning strategies characterized as “Missing Middle Housing”.
